Program: ERA-NET consortium: "ERA- NET NEURON"

The aim of the call is to enable multi-national, collaborative research projects that will address important questions relating to mental disorders. The call may receive proposals within the breadth of research from understanding basic mechanisms of disease through proof-of-concept clinical studies in man. These may include research on depression and bipolar disorders, phobia and anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and other mental disorders. Research on dementia is not included in the present call.

Research proposals should cover at least one of the following areas:
Fundamental research on the pathogenesis and aetiology of mental disorders. This may include the development of innovative or shared resources and technologies.
Research to develop new strategies for (early) diagnosis, therapy, and rehabilitation procedures for mental disorders.

Eligibility:
Each consortium submitting a proposal must involve a minimum of three and a maximum of five research groups from at least three different countries of funding organisations participating in this call.
Proposals may be submitted by research groups working in universities (or other higher education institutions), non-university public research institutes, hospitals, as well as commercial companies, in particular small and medium-size enterprises.

Participating Countries:
Austria, Canada – CIHR, Canada – FRSQ, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, Spain ISCIII, Spain MICINN.

Project Duration: 3 years.

Funding:
The ministry of health will finance 5 projects, 60,000 € each (Israeli contribution of 300,000 €).
