General description:

Research dedicated to all flight attendants who worked for decades in smoke-filled airlines cabins. FAMRI is interested in clinical and translational research on the aforementioned topics in the following areas:
- The etiology and pathogenesis of tobacco-caused respiratory diseases in humans
- Therapeutic interventions
- Clinical trials
- Research to establish a protocol for inquiry regarding second hand tobacco smoke exposure by all health care professionals
This year FAMRI will limit the subject matter of applications to the effect of second hand tobacco smoke exposure on respiratory and auto immune diseases. Proposals are restricted to the following topics:
-- Chronic sinusitis
-- Cilia abnormalities
-- Chronic bronchitis
-- COPD
-- Emphysema
-- Asthma/allergies
-- Chronic auto immune diseases
Young Clinical Scientist Award/Faculty - faculty appointments between 1.7.2010 - 1.7.2014. Funding: $100K for one year.
Young Clinical Scientist Award/Fellow - for individuals at the fellowship level who do not expect to receive a faculty appointment until after 1.7.2014. Funding: $75K for one year.
Clinical Innovator Award is restricted to those who have received FAMRI funding in the past.
