Climate Change and Emissions Management (CCEMC) Corp.: Converting Greenhouse Gases into Valuable Carbon-Based Products

Name: Climate Change and Emissions Management (CCEMC) Corp.: Converting Greenhouse Gases into Valuable Carbon-Based Products
Application deadline: 15/07/13
General description:

NineSigma, representing CCEMC Corp., invites proposals for technologies that will convert CO2 arising from greenhouse gases (GHGs) into valuable carbon-based products. The goal is to significantly reduce GHG emissions by fostering the development of technologies that create new carbon-based, value-added products and markets. Focus areas include, but are not limited to:
- Technologies or processes that produce high value goods from GHGs
- Technologies that fix captured carbon into solid or readily transportable starting materials
- High-value materials with high carbon content that could be produced from GHGs
- Biological processes that capture/consume carbon and convert it into a new viable product (e.g., oils from algae)
This is a multi-stage challenge, with opportunities for additional funding upon advancement to each stage. Successful respondents to this request will be invited to submit a comprehensive proposal directly to CCEMC. This Challenge will ultimately award up to CAD$35 million to develop promising technologies that convert carbon-based GHGs into valuable products.
In Round One, up to 20 respondents will be funded with seed grants of CAD$500,000 (~$486,000) over 2 years, to develop and/or prove the concept of proposed technologies.
- Phase 1 – Open request for proposals (short, non-confidential submissions (by 15.7.13).
- Phase 2 – Selected respondents will be invited to provide comprehensive proposals.
- Phase 3 – Up to 20 respondents will be funded with CAD$500,000 in seed grants.
In Round Two, up to 5 respondents will be funded with development grants of CAD$3 million over 2 years, to reduce developed technologies to practice.
In Round Three, one winner will receive a CAD$10 million commercialization award to bring the fully developed technology to market.
