General description:

Contemporary non-scientific uses and abuses of biological thought (beneficial, benign or negative) in the domains of philosophy, the social sciences, the media, religion and politics. Projects should address the ways in which biological ideas, either deliberately or indirectly, shape perceptions, policies, strategies, theories or presuppositions in these various domains. A list of exemplar projects can be viewed here.
Funding: grants will be awarded for 1-2 years and a maximum of two years and will typically fund a postdoctoral investigator plus some research and conference fees.

postdoctoral investigator plus some research and conference fees. Essay awards are 1000, 500 and 250 GBP for first, second and third-place winners, respectively.
