General description:

ISF accepts applications in: exact sciences and technology, life sciences and medicine, and humanities and social sciences. The grants are given to 1-4 investigators for up to 4 years (5 years as pilot in life sciences and medicine). The proposals are evaluated by their scientific excellence: [1] Originality & innovation, [2] Project importance & implications, [3] Adequacy of methods, and [4] Suitability of investigators’ scientific background (see review instructions: www.isf.org.il/english/reviews_guidlines.asp). Funding: Without formal limit, the average annual budget for grants in exact sciences and technology stands at 203,500 NIS, in life sciences and medicine at 244,000 NIS, in humanities 109,000 NIS and in social sciences at 123,500 NIS.

  • As a pilot ISF will accept applications for 5 year grants in life sciences and medicine.
  • In order to promote inter-institutional collaboration, ISF will consider a bonus of 70,000 NIS to such collaborations when well justified.
  • A PI can apply either for an Individual Research Grant OR for a Center of Excellence, in a given application round.
