Seeks proposals that dramatically increase understanding of the phenomena driving interfacial liquid evacuation. This ARC Opportunity asks proposers to do this through two steps:

  1. Model the key properties that govern the rate of liquid expulsion between two surfaces as

they make contact with one another. Material design parameters of interest include both

physical and chemical properties at the interface. Environmental design parameters of

interest include but are not limited to, liquid temperature, pH, composition, and viscosity.

  1. Design candidate adhesive(s) where the strength of adhesion for curing in a liquid medium

is greater than 50% of that achieved by a cure in ambient air. Validate the model from Step

1 through simulation and experiment.

Funding: up to $300,000 for 12 months. Proposers are encouraged to submit Abstracts as early as possible.
