LRI-ECO62: Experimental method for river-bank filtration in the course of the assessment of mobility concerns: The project is looking to evaluate suitable laboratory tests to assess the mobility of chemical substances during river-bank filtration under fully saturated conditions. As a follow up, parameters may be identified to improve/adapt the existing in silico tools available to assess soil leachability so that they can also be used for river-bank filtration. Funding: €200K for 12 months. LRI-ECO63: Mechanistic understanding of sorption/desorption of polymer in environmental media: Aims to gain a mechanistic understanding of the sorption/desorption of polymers in environmental media, with the intent to improve the characterization of distribution in and movement between environmental matrices, as well as establish a fundamental understanding of structure-activity relationships for polymer sorption/desorption. Funding: €150K – 200K for 2 years. LRI-ECO64: Improving Laboratory Based Polymer Biodegradation Evaluations: Aims to evaluate the appropriateness of standard biodegradation screening and simulation methods and the necessary modifications needed to accurately quantify polymer biodegradation. Funding: €400K – 500K for 3 years. LRI-B25: Establishing of a Dermal Uptake Threshold as a Potential Route of Exposure for Microplastic Particles: This project is looking to investigate if dermal uptake is a route that could contribute to significant Dermal Exposure of Micro-and Nanoplastics (MNP) exposure. Funding: €200K for 18 months. |
