The program will identify the most qualified candidates who have been awarded a postdoctoral position in a U.S. host research institution and train them to become world leaders in the following areas of the Biomedical Sciences:
- Cell Biology
- Biochemistry/Proteomics
- Bioinformatics
- Biomedical Engineering
- Computational Biology
- Developmental Biology
- Molecular Biology
- Stem Cell Biology
- Genetics and Genomics
- Neuroscience
The goal of this program is to promote collaboration between U.S. and Israeli scientists and to provide young Israeli researchers with a broad range of experience so that they may return to Israel to continue their research career.
In the past five years, The Gruss Lipper Postdoctoral Fellowship Program received close to 250 applicants and has awarded 8 multi-year fellowships. Since a limited number of fellowships will be awarded each year, only one fellowship per host institution will be awarded annually. Applications will be reviewed by a national review committee of highly qualified biomedical researchers. Fellows are chosen on the basis of their promise as young investigators, the quality of their U.S. host institution and mentors, as well as the innovative nature of the proposed research.
